Mall of Qatar, the largest shopping mall in the country when it opens by Q4 2015, is gearing up for a major presence at this year’s Cityscape Qatar, which will take place from 2 to 4 June 2014 where the mall’s management will be making a number of major announcements.
Construction work is now well underway and on schedule – that is being built in the heart of ‘the new Doha’ and is set to become the nation’s mall when it opens – offering an unrivalled retail experience in Qatar and attracting visitors from across the GCC. The management team anticipated that by the end of Q3 2014 most of the strategic agreements will be concluded.
Commenting on the plans for Cityscape, Deputy Managing Director of Mall of Qatar, Shem Krey, said:
We have made enormous progress on this project since we launched the Mall a year ago with construction on target and we have been able to attract world class brands to take space at the mall. Cityscape Qatar provides a superb platform to update the retail, entertaiment and development community here in Doha and across the Middle East on the great strides we have already made with this development. We are also using the event to announce a number of new and exciting initiatives in relation to our Mall and we will have something different to announce on each of the three days. The response from the retail community to the Mall has been hugely positive and we anticipate being able to finalise agreements with major retailers by third quarter of this year. Mall of Qatar will be the biggest mall in the country when it opens and we are confident that up to 10 per cent of our visitors will also come from neighbouring Gulf states – helping to support the Government’s 2030 vision to attract more tourists and develop the economic intrastructure of the nation.’
The Mall is being built just a short 20 minute drive from the centre of the city and in the heart of a major new development area that will see 10,000 new villas being built, alongside new Metro and regional rail links and improved highway connections to the centre of Doha.
Mall of Qatar is set to have a premium high profile location at Cityscape – to display their latest models of the massive project alongside videos bringing to life what will be a complete retail destination, yet catering for the entire Doha community and the region. Mall of Qatar will feature world class shopping, entertainment, leisure and dining opportunities.
The three-day real estate event will give Mall management an opportunity to showcase the potential for retailers to become part of one of the most exciting, innovative and dynamic projects of its kind that is currently being developed in the Gulf.
Mall of Qatar will be a “A Super Regional Mall” offering over 400 shops, 3 major anchors, a luxury 5 star hotel, a unique Family Entertainment Centre, world class daily live entertainment concept and an array of 82 international restaurants, cafes and specialty food shops.
This is in addition to the recently announced news that Mall of Qatar has selected Cinemacity to create the largest Cineplex in Qatar, with an IMAX theatre featuring its next-generation digital laser projection system that will be one of 19 screens at the complex. Cinemacity, a subsidiary of World Media Holding, has partnered with IMAX to create a theatre that will feature the first IMAX digital laser system in the Middle East.
During Cityscape Qatar, the Mall plans to make major announcements in relation to its unique Family Entertainment Centre that will bring a number of firsts to the Middle East, one of its key anchor store tenants and its luxury hotel partner.
