Did you know who is in town – only Oscar Pistorius, the hugely popular South African athlete and competitor at both the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympic Games.
And why is he in town? To race a horse, of course!
Sasol, in collaboration with the Doha Goals Forum, is organising the ‘Run Like the Wind’ race, in what can only be called a truly unique event. Oscar Pistorius will race against Maserati, an Arabian horse, on Wednesday 12 December, at the ASPIRE Zone outdoor circuit at 7:30 pm.
At a press conference on Sunday, Oscar said about his chances against the horse:
I am not sure … we will have a good race. I’m going to do a lot of stretching! I will make sure I have enough protein and carbohydrates in my system!”
Good luck, Oscar! Why not go and cheer him along?
‘Run Like the Wind’ is one of a series of unique Definitely Able events in Qatar. In June, Sasol brought the South African Paralympic Wheelchair Basketball team to Qatar to compete against the Qatar National Handball Team in a special ‘Champs versus Chairs’ challenge.
