The latest Chevrolet Trax is a leading contender in the fast-growing segment of compact crossovers aimed at young city-dwelling professionals. These vehicles combine a slightly higher riding position for better outward visibility with a smaller footprint for easier urban manoeuverability and parking. And in this age of rising petrol prices, you’ll appreciate the low fuel consumption of the Trax.

There’s something quite attractive about the new 2017 Chevrolet Trax. Maybe it’s the smile in its newly redesigned grille and headlights which now show a family resemblance with other Chevy cars like the Cruze and Malibu. In addition, the 2017 interior has been thoroughly updated with a new, and also very attractive, instrument panel with clear gauges and a wonderful 7-inch touchscreen.

But, more than better-looking, embedded in the dashboard is better technology. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are new to the Trax and provide quick and seamless integration of your smartphone into the vehicle’s entertainment and navigation systems.

Other additions to this year’s edition of the Trax include proximity triggered keyless entry and ignition and several new advanced safety features (including forward collision and rear cross-traffic alerts). And if the phone isn’t enough, 4G LTE Wi-Fi is now on the options list.

Chevrolet has made great strides in providing state-of-the-art safety features using the most modern technology. And where I really appreciated the advances was in the infotainment system. The dashboard looks really good (especially at night!), it was the quickest to connect with my iPhone and I was immediately listening to my own library of music and podcasts, quicker, smoother and more trouble-free than many other types I have driven.

Driving in town or on the open road in the All-Wheel-Drive Trax is a breeze, helped by a commanding driving position and panoramic view. And it’s made more restful with the bright luxury of Chevrolet’s really modern and responsive dials, gauges and touchscreen infotainment system.
