Celebrating Qatar National Sport Day, Qatar-based Indian photographer and photojournalist Bosco Menezes (Big B Fotografi) held a meet up, bringing together some of Qatar’s well-known sports personalities to speak on the significance of health and sports.
The meet up, dubbed as #bigbmeetup, was held on Saturday, 9 February at the rooftop pool of Fraser Suites Doha with speakers such as Qatar cyclist Abdulla Al Hammed; French fitness guru Pierre Daniel, who received a Guinness Book World Record for his seven-day trek across Qatar; Qatari para athlete, fencer and motivational speaker Ahmed Ali Al Shaharani; beIN Sports and Al Jazeera English journalist, and fitness enthusiast Salman Surti; gym instructor Obada Samir; fitness instructor and model Tarek El Sharif; and wellness practitioner and yoga Instructor Vishnu Prasad.
Hailing from Goa, India, Menezes grew up in Qatar with over 20 years of experience in the marketing and media fields, and a professional eye for photography. Now, a freelance photographer and photojournalist, Menezes recently launched his own brand, Big B Fotografi. He occasionally hosts meet ups and photo exhibitions under his new brand.
The Qatar National Sport Day meet up is Menezes’s second meet up. His first meet up was held under the theme of wellness at The Torch Doha in April 2018 with the attendance of well-known Qatari and expat socialites such as beIN TV presenter and sports analyst, Mohammed Saadon Al Kuwari. In addition, he held photo exhibitions at The Torch Doha and Fraser Suites Doha. He is one of the first photojournalists to interview Ahmed Al Maadheed, the Qatari artist who created the renowned unity icon, Tamim Al Majd, a black and white image of The Amir, HH Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Menezes has covered major sporting events over the past 10 years, varying from the 2006 Doha Asian Games, the 2010 IAAF Doha Indoor Athletics to the AFC Cup and more.
