The Minister of Municipality, HE Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, opened the Rawdat Al Khail Park located in the Al Muntazah area. The park was officially inaugurated in the presence of HE Mayor of Wilmington in the US State of Delaware, Michael Purzycki and his accompanying delegation who are currently visiting the country.

HE the Minister of Municipality and the Mayor of Wilmington participated in planting the friendship tree to promote relations of friendship and cooperation in various areas of joint interest between Doha and the City of Wilmington .

Assistant Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality Mansour, Abdullah Al Mahmoud, said that the opening of the Rawdat Al Khail Park comes within the framework of great interest that the Ministry of Municipality attaches to the establishment and development of public parks in various areas in all municipalities, to promote a healthy, recreational attractions for families. The park is one of the oldest parks in Qatar and has had a distinguished position among citizens and residents for decades.

One of the largest park in the country

Director of Public Parks Department, Engineer Mohammad Ali Al Khoury said that Rawdat Al Khail Park is one of the central parks that serve many areas around its vicinity. It occupies 140,000 square metres, which makes it one of the largest parks in the country. The park also includes recreational and sports facilities.

The park includes a pedestrian path of 1,183 metres, a running track of 1,119 metres and a bicycle track that is 1,118 metres in length. These are in addition to the green areas which cover 98,000 square metres and the 1,600 trees, which contributes to making the park an attractive destination in the area. The park also includes areas for exercise equipped with fitness equipment and two play areas for children divided by age groups – for two to five years old and for six to 12 years old, also equipped for children with special needs.

The park also includes 40 bicycle stands, seven restaurant kiosks, 137 lighting poles, and eight barbecue places, plus locally manufactured seating and bike path.

Engineer Al Khoury praised the efforts made by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and the Supervisory Committee for Beautification of Roads and Public Places for the establishment of parks that keep pace with global development and contribute to changing the lives of individuals, encouraging them to follow a healthy lifestyle.

Rawdat Al Khail Park is one of the oldest parks in Doha and hosts perennial trees that constitute an environmental and cultural heritage.

The State of Qatar is making great efforts to increase its green area and plant trees, launching the initiative to plant one million trees as part of the country’s contribution to enhance environmental sustainability and provide a healthy and green environment for all residents of Qatar.
