MOI Assures Public Safety at World Athletics Championship Doha 2019
Captain Burhan Saleh Al Turki, Assistant Head of the Security Committee for World Athletics Championship Doha 2019 and Director of Security at Khalifa International Stadium, affirmed that all units of the Security Committee are fully and professionally ready to secure the tournaments and the public who will attend the events.
The security of Khalifa International Stadium, according to Captain Al Turki, are all set and follows the security strategy developed by the security committee of the championship. Various units of the security committee are in place inside and outside the stadium, as well as a traffic plan for implementation, before and during the tournament.
Security control of the stadium is linked to the main operating room of the National Command Center (NCC), which communicates with all security units on site.
Women Police in the Tournaments
The women police of the Ministry of Interior (MOI) and Lekhwiya will play an important and vital role in the security of the IAAF championship.
Major Kholoud Anbar Al Nuaimi, Head of the Women Police Department at the Police Training Institute, said their participation enhances security for everyone, especially as there are women’s sports teams and delegations. She said that they need to ensure their protection and security. MOI has developed a plan to enhance security and organise procedures.
We have had successful partnerships during the Asian Games, where we have demonstrated the skill of the female element in enhancing security. We have played and continue to play a vital role in this area.’
