MOI Bags First Prize in Arab Civil Protection Film Contest
The contest is held by the council every two years. The prize was awarded by Secretary General of Arab Interior Ministers Council Dr Mohammed bin Ali Koman in 14th conference of heads of civil defence and protection agencies in Arab states which was held in Tunisian capital recently. Director of Logistics Department at General Directorate of Civil Defence (GDCD) Major Hussain Ibrahim Al Asmakh received the award for this awareness short film produced by the Public Relations Department of the Ministry in association with GDCD. The film was on marine safe highlighting importance of safety procedures for sea goers. The film as well focus on beach cleanliness.
The film was produced by media production centre at the department in cooperation with Civil Defense. This is not the first time that MoI gets in the forefront of security awareness. According to the head of security media section at the PRD Captain, Mubarak Salem Al Buainain, the ministry has won several awards such as first place in security media contest of Arab Interior Ministers Council in 2009, International Festival for Prevention of Road Accidents 2010 and as well in 2012 Ministry for the 8th year in a row in the contest held of security media office at General Secretariat of Arab Interior Ministers Council.
According to the PRD director Colonel Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah, the MoI is keen on participating awareness contests on different levels. Colonel Al Muftah added that the ministry has achieved many accomplishments in this filed as the films produced by the department meet high professional standards.
The headquarters of Arab Interior Ministers Council General Secretariat at Tunisian capital had hosted 14th Arab Conference for heads of civil defense and protection agencies with participation of representative from different Arab countries as well as from Arab League, Naif University for Security Science, International Organization for Civil Protection and Defense. The meeting discussed means for protection for civil protection personnel.
The participants at the conference discussed a number of issues, including emerging dangers of environmental pollution and ways to combat it and developments in the activities and functions of the organs of Arab civil protection agencies besides discussing developing scenario for coordination and communication between the member states with a view for joint intervention in the event of a disaster.
