MoI Expects 335 Teams and 7,750 Students to Join QND Celebrations 2015
The expatriate communities in Qatar are all set to shine with a wide range of activities in the associated activities of the QND celebrations 2015 to be held in four localities in the country. A total of 335 teams and 7750 students are expected to participate in cultural shows, arts and sports competitions that will be staged in all venues.
The Indian and Sri Lankan communities will showcase their cultural fiesta in Asian Town in Industrial Area along with the students of MES Indian School, Pak Shama, Stafford Sri Lankan School, Birla Public School, Doha Modern Indian School and Bright Future School.
The Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities will stage their programmes in Wakra Sports Stadium. The students of PEC School, Bangladesh School, Bhavans Public School, TNG, DPS MIS and Noble International School will perform here as well.
The Rayyan Sports Club will host the Filipino, Indonesian and Malaysian Communities together with the students of Philippines School Doha, Philippines International School Qatar, Ideal Indian School, Shanti Niketan School and Scholars International School.
The Barwa Workers Recreation Complex will be hosted by the cultural performances of Nepalese community and Al Khor residential community.
Cultural performances and musical shows will start on 17 December at 4 pm in Asian Town, Wakra and Barwa Recreation Complex in Al Khor.
Art competitions and sports championships will start on Friday 18 December at 8 am in all venues including Rayyan Sports Club. Companies will participate in the art competitions to be held in Al Khor.
Schools, community teams and companies will compete in parade, Qatar cultural show, general show and songs.
Sports competitions will be conducted in football, volleyball, basketball, cricket, tug of war and running race with participation of 64 teams in cricket, 48 teams in football, 32 teams in basketball, 32 teams in volleyball, 64 teams in tug of war and 48 competitors in 400 metres in running race.
Musical concert by Pakistani troupe from Lahore and Peshawar in Wakra, Musical shows of singers from Bangladesh in Wakra, Qawwali Ghazal concert by Sabri brothers from Rajasthan in Asian Town are some of the highlights of the events.
A T20 match is also to be played between Pakistan XI and Qatar XI in Asian Town.
