MOI Joins Regional Road Safety Consultative Meeting in Jordan
The State of Qatar recently participated in a three-day consultative meeting on the Regional Parliamentary Forum on Road Safety, held in Amman, Jordan.
The country’s delegation was led by officials from the Ministry of Interior – Director General of Traffic, Major General Mohamed Saad Al Kharji and Secretary of the National Traffic Safety Committee, Brigadier General Mohammed Abdullah Al Malki.
The forum supports the efforts of countries in the region in addressing the problem of road traffic deaths, and in transforming regional and global public health commitments into national legislation and policy frameworks, within the context of the ‘safe-system’ approach.
The gathering also aims to launch a regional network of parliamentary legislators in the field of road safety and to agree on the structure of its governance. It will take into consideration a proposed regional framework that will accelerate actions to achieve global goals in road safety that is focused on youth and young adults.
