The Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar gets the MotoGP off to a start on Thursday 5th April. Supported by RasGas, the MotoGP will be held at the Losail International Circuit from the 5th to the 8th April, 2012.

Firstly, the engine capacity limit has gone up; last year it was capped at 800cc and now it’s 1000cc, which will add an exciting edge to the racing.

The other development is the debut of the new Claiming Rule Teams (CRT) which allows independent teams with lower budgets to participate by giving them more engines and a higher fuel allowance, and the MSMA (Motorsport Manufacturing Association – Yamaha, Honda, Ducati and Suzuki) can buy back the engines at the end of the race for €15-20,000.
