Mowasalat (Karwa) organised its Annual Health and Safety event in Karwa City recently, under this year’s slogan #CareForYourLife.  The event is part of Mowasalat’s annual planned activities to spread awareness about health and safety on all levels.

The event included a number of healthcare activities organised by the Mowasalat Medical Centre including free basic health check-up and vision screening, as well as a number of awareness presentations on health and safety by a number of specialist physicians.

Mowasalat Health, Safety, Security and Environment Department collaborated with stakeholders to present interactive programmes and civil defence live demonstrations to stress the value of self-awareness and ensure safety in the work place and at home. Basic day-to-day health and fitness exercises were also presented to show relief from stress, maintain good vision, avoid stiffness and back ailments.

The Karwa Driving School also presented awareness lectures and presentations on the hazardous effects of distraction resulting from using audio-visual and mobile devices, eating and drinking, keeping objects that may fall and jam the brakes while driving. The presentation showed how these can be fatal and endanger lives of passengers and drivers.

The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (MADLSA) joined the event, represented by Jaber Al Marri, Head of the Occupational Safety and Health Department. Al Marri presented the most updated information on occupational safety and health and distributed safety booklets to enhance awareness among Mowasalat employees. The MADLSA team also commended the annual initiative and the importance of spreading the culture of health and safety.
