Nasser Al Attiyah, the Qatari Dakar rally champion is getting ready to compete with 15 others to win the Qatar International Rally 2016 title on 5 and 6 February.
Expressing his desire to achieve the new title, Nasser said:
First of all, I would like to welcome all the participants and wish them a good stay in Qatar. As for my participation in Qatar rally, I will do my best to achieve the title. It will be the a good start in this season in Middle East championship. This championship had good memories for Qatar in 2015, hoping to repeat the same in 2016.
Explaining the nature and geography of Qatar International Rally, Al Attiyah said that each round has its own geographical conditions that require a well-studied plan, which the team is familiar with. The geographical diversity is the most important feature of this championship which attracts a large number of the participants from Europe. Qatar International Rally 2016 expects a large participation from the Europe region, a great factor that will challenge Qatari motorsport to sustain the title this year. Winning the title would absolutely bring honour to QMMF headed by Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah, the main man responsible for sustaining the name of Qatar among the pioneer and supporting countries for the motorsport all over the world, and made Qatar as a model to be followed by others.
If Al Attiyah wins the Qatar International Rally, not only he will grab the new world record in the Middle East rallies but also he will be equal to Bin Sleim of UAE with 60 winnings, 11 regional titles. He is seeking the 13th title in his career and the 4th subsequent time in this rally. Al Attiyah will be competing with his Skoda Fabia R5 alongside with his co-driver Matthieu Baumel of France who was also with him during the last season.
In the same context, a press conference will be held on Thursday, 4 February and will be concluded in the evening of Saturday 6 February at the headquarters of QMMF.
