The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC Qatar) celebrated their first anniversary at Alwadi Hotel Doha – MGallery, in a special gathering attended by a number of dignitaries, executives and professionals in the construction sector.

The ceremony was honoured by Qatar Stock Exchange CEO Rashid Ali Al Mansouri, Dr Abdullah Yaqoub Al Sayed, President of the Lean Construction Institute (LCI Qatar) and Engineer Ahmed Al Ansari, Director of the Technical Office at Public Works Authority (Ashghal).

The ceremony commenced with the Qatar national anthem, followed by a speech by NAWIC Qatar president Engineer Billie Teshich, who expressed her happiness with all their achievements since their launch in November 2019, and for being the first association of its kind in the Middle East.

She highlighted how they are committed and dedicated to deliver their vision, which is women empowerment, and to support their contribution to the construction industry. She concluded with great thanks and gratitude to all their sponsors, supporters and keynote speakers who shared their experience through the NAWIC Qatar events.

The ceremony included a presentation of the association’s achievements  as well as plans for the next year and future aspirations, presented by founding member Carly-Jane Figgis.

Board Foundation Member Dr Ghada Darwish Karboon said they are proud to celebrate the occasion and to witness the growth of the association since last year.

NAWIC Qatar Events Manager Amna Mabrouk said they are proud that they are moving towards achieving NAWIC goals. The construction industry, according to her, is a vital and broad sector that accommodates women capabilities under various specialties – it’s an opportunity to highlight women’s achievements in construction though NAWIC Qatar activities.
