Naufar Senior Management welcomed ten resident doctors and four fellowship doctors from Hamad Medical Corporation. The doctors are the first batch of trainees to have successfully completed their speciality training at Naufar over the past year under the tutelage of Naufar’s Director of Psychiatry, Dr Rehan Siddique.
This is the inaugural year of an ongoing programme designed to increase the level of expertise among trainee doctors in treating patients with substance use disorder in Qatar. Dr Khalifa Jeham Al Kuwari, Naufar Assistant Director-General, said:
This development demonstrates the increasingly strong relationship and partnership between Naufar and HMC as we work together to deliver the vision of the 2030 National Health Strategy.’
Naufar is a purpose-built specialist treatment centre that focuses on helping individuals overcome addiction and substance use disorder. Patients receive internationally recognised evidence-based treatment that will improve their quality of life and help reintegrate them into society. Naufar treats patients aged 12 and up in specialised multi-disciplinary teams.
Additionally, Dr Abdulatif Alkhal, the Director of Medical Education at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) commented:
HMC is delighted that the first batch of psychiatry residents from their programme accredited by the American Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education-International (ACGM-I) completed their training at Naufar.
