Following its strong opening during the Eid Al Fitr holidays, Summer Entertainment City (SEC) is inviting everyone to experience its exciting offerings spread out over the expansive ground floor of the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC) until the end of August.
In addition to more than 75 gaming experiences and 40 food outlets under one roof, SEC’s new offering this year includes a Summer Shopping Souq and a dedicated Football Fan Zone.
Football Fan Zone and More
Football fans are encouraged to visit the Summer Entertainment City Football Fan Zone to watch the final matches of the World Cup and keep up with the excitement in Russia by cheering for their favourite team through the live broadcast of the games. The 1,000 square metre Fan Zone is equipped with giant screens. Food and beverages are served, in addition to several other football-based activities that take place every day.
The Fan Zone also features, for the first time in Qatar, a robo goalie against which visitors can put their football skills to test and try to score a goal. The first three contestants to score against the goalie on any given day will get a free Gold Pass.
This year’s version has been designed to suit all ages – from toddlers to teenagers and adults – and budgets, with a wide variety of games and activities at affordable prices. Entry fee is just QAR15. Families can take advantage of the several fun activities within the airconditioned comfort of DECC.
According to Ghanim Al Mohannadi, Deputy Chairman of QSports, they exert all their efforts every summer to provide the highest standards of entertainment for Qatar residents and visitors. To date, the Summer Entertainment City has welcomed over 50,000 visitors of different nationalities.
We work relentlessly to follow international standards and place Qatar on the international map of leisure and tourism.’
QSports is proud to be a part of the Qatar Summer Festival as a private-sector organiser. Al Mohannadi said they are working hand-in-hand with key stakeholders and partners, such as Qatar Tourism Authority, DECC, QTickets and other companies, to bring an exciting array of entertainment to hundreds of thousands of expected visitors.
Mashal Shahbik, Director of Festivals and Tourism Events at QTA, said they too, are delighted to see hundreds of families flock to DECC each day to immerse themselves in the excitement that SEC offers this summer.
We are particularly happy to see our private sector partners such as QSports evolve and grow their offering every year to capitalise on new trends and offer something for all members of the family.’
The Summer Entertainment City’s key features include theworld’s largest bouncy castle, a synthetic ice skating rink, an extensive virtual reality (VR) set-up with more than 15 VR games as well as live entertainment shows. A driving school for children is also available with a complete circuit, cars and driving teachers. For those who feel they want to slow down to break away from all the excitement, an 18-hole mini-golf course is also in place.
Another new feature, the Summer Shopping Souq features 140 stalls from Qatar and other countries such as Kuwait, Oman, Iran, Turkey and Lebanon.
