Oryx Rotana Doha, the five-star luxury business hotel in Doha, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ece Ergoz as its new Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications, as well as that of Thomas Marchi as its new Executive Sous Chef.
Having completed her degree in Business Management, Public Relations and Communications at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, Ergoz will be responsible for planning, development and implementation of the hotel’s marketing and branding initiatives as well as public relations activities of the hotel.
Prior to joining Oryx Rotana Doha, Ergoz worked at Mondrian Doha as the Public Relations and Marketing Manager, and also at the W Istanbul in the capacity of Digital and Social Marketing Executive. She began her career in Sales and Marketing at a well-known luxury brand in the US – Michael Kors.
Thomas Marchi currently holds the position of Executive Sous Chef at Oryx Rotana Doha. Prior to his new role, Chef Marchi, a member of the World Association Chef Sociality (WACS) and a member of Emirates Culinary Guild, was responsible for the overall kitchen management of Kitchen 45, Embassy Dubai’s restaurant at Grosvenor House Dubai, Tower Two.
On completing his education, Chef Marchi went on to pursue his culinary dreams at Angelo Berti Hotel Management School in Verona, where he began to explore his passion – creating great quality Italian dishes and fine dining fare, using the freshest of ingredients.
He worked as a Commis de Cuisine at the Stafolet Restaurant in Garda’s Lake Verona, Italy in 1999 and left the country in 2008 to further his career. He then moved to India in the position of Italian Chef de Cuisine at the Hyatt Regency in Kolkata, he was in charge of the La Cucina Restaurant which won the ‘Best Pizza in Town’ award from the monthly journal Times Kolkata.
In 2009, Chef Marchi held the position of Head Chef at Radisson Blu Hotel, Yas Island Abu Dhabi and took the lead at Sofitel Jeremiah Beach Hotel in 2012.
