As part of improving its online service, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) added a new service in the Metrash2 mobile application which enables the citizens to apply for approval to bringing in housemaids and those in their status on personal sponsorship. As well, they also can follow approvals received prior.
According to the Director of General Directorate of Border Passports and Expatriate Affairs (GDBPEA), Brigadier Abdullah Salim Al Ali, this addition in the Metrash2 service come as part of technological development at the Ministry of Interior whereas the citizen can apply for bringing in housemaids and others on personal sponsorship (maximum four) provided that the citizen shall be married as per the status of ministry’s database.
In addition, the service will enable the Qatari citizen to obtain the approval directly as the application will display the nationalities they can choose from and complete the procedure within seconds without resorting to Immigration headquarters or MoI services centers.
Furthermore, Brigadier Al Ali noted that Metrash2 mobile app is smart application through which citizens and residents can obtain more than 35 services of the ministry form comfort their mobile device from anywhere in the world.
Assistant Director of Information Systems Department of the MoI, Colonel Abdul Rahman Ali Al Maliki, said that Metrahs2 is available for all citizens and residents provide that the mobile number shall be registered in the subscribers name and Metrash2 service can be activated either through self-service kiosks of the Ministry or by SMS. If activated through kiosks using smart ID cards first part of activation code will be printed from the machine and second part will be sent by SMS. Alternatively, they activate the service by sending an SMS 92992 with the following format M2RE <QID><QID Expiry Date> to get the activation code. Al Malki urges all to subscribe for this service as it will save their effort and time in obtaining MoI services, adding that more than 22,000 people have joined the service already.
