The Ministry of Interior opened the new vehicles number plate Workshop building in the MoI services centre complex in Doha Industrial Area on Tuesday 27 September 2016.
The new workshop building spread over an area of 25,000 square metres has been built at the cost of QAR18 million. The building is divided into three parts with the first part having two separate sections for light and heavy vehicles. This section has 17 counters and can accommodate 150 people.
The second part is the workshop area equipped with modern equipment imported from overseas, while the third part of the building area is a warehouse for raw materials used in manufacturing the number plates.
Director General of the General Directorate of Traffic Brigadier Mohamed Saad al Kharji said the opening of the workshop in the Industrial Area comes in line with the strategy of the Ministry of Interior to make it easier for car owners to avail services offered by the ministry’s different departments and ensure overall developments.
Brigadier Kharji added that the new workshop building in the Industrial Area with its larger space and advanced technological equipment will make installation of number plates on cars much easier than it was at the workshop’s former location at Khalifa City. The number plate installation will be done within minutes now without the need for the owner of the car to get down from the vehicle.
Heavy vehicles and company-owned vehicles will continue getting number plates from the Fahes centre in the Industrial Area.
The workshop will be open from 6 am—7 pm.
