The icon of the sporty compact class – the Golf GTI – is celebrating its 40th anniversary at the beginning of next year and, to mark this historic event Volkswagen is launching a progressive special edition: the new Golf GTI Clubsport.

The new Golf GTI Clubsport will hold the impressive title of the most powerful production GTI ever, with a turbocharged direct-injection engine delivering an output of 195 kW / 265 hp – 45 hp more than on the previous most powerful Golf GTI in the region – and a boost function able to increase power output to over 290 hp for a short time.

Not only has Volkswagen given the anniversary model’s engine more power, it has also extensively revised the design, equipment and aerodynamic fine- tuning of the anniversary model. Due to the high power output and significantly improved downforce, the dynamic performance of the Golf GTI Clubsport propels it into the domain of top-class motorsport. This results in groundbreaking handling properties at high speeds and breathtaking cornering speeds.

The interior exceeds expectations with the motor-racing bucket seats and equipment. The Volkswagen exterior designers created a completely new front bumper, side sills, rear diffuser, multi-part roof spoiler and exclusive forged alloy wheels for the anniversary model. These features immediately make the anniversary model stand out from the familiar GTI models.

A limited edition of the Golf GTI Clubsport will be available in the Middle East in early this year.

Q-Auto on Salwa Road will be pleased to arrange a test drive of the VW Golf GTI or any of its sporty cars and SUVs for Marhaba readers. Call 4445 2333 or visit their website.
