Congratulations to the winner of the inaugural Qatar Museums’ Equestrian Photography Competition!
The competition, in celebration of Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club’s 40th Anniversary, invited amateur and professional photographers to submit images that celebrate the role that horses have played in Arabic art, as well as their contribution to Qatar’s heritage and culture.
A total of 20 entries were shortlisted but the winner, Sharil Babu, impressed judges with his shot of the racehorse Ghizwan, a powerful Arabian horse and winner of the L/B P/A MAIDEN PLATE race that took place on 7 January 2015.
Both the winning and shortlisted entries have been displayed at a special exhibition held at the HH the Emir 24th International Equestrian Sword Festival, in celebration of QREC’s 40th Anniversary.
The winner will have another opportunity to display his photography skills by capturing the action at the famous Racing and Equestrian event in France, Qatar Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe.
Meanwhile, Qatar Museums has extended one of its most popular collections, the Yousef Ahmad Exhibition ‘Story of ingenuity’, which will now run until Sunday 28 March 2015 at the Qatar Museums Gallery in Building 10 at Katara.
