Ooredoo has recently entered into a strategic three-year agreement with the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara to be the exclusive telecom sponsor for the upcoming World Arabian Horse Championship (WAHC).

The historic partnership marks a significant milestone in Ooredoo’s commitment to Qatar’s cultural heritage, enhancing the international prestige of the esteemed equestrian event. The World Arabian Horse Championship, scheduled from 6 to 9 December, will be held outside of France for the first time, signifying a new chapter in the history of Arabian equestrian sports.

The partnership aims to showcase the beauty and elegance of Arabian horses in the next three years – the WAHC 2023 and 2025 editions in Qatar and the 2024 event in Paris are poised to offer an unparalleled cultural and interactive experience for audiences worldwide.

Three-year partnership

According to Ooredoo Qatar Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Ali Bin Jabor Bin Mohammad Al Thani, they take immense pride in sponsoring the World Arabian Horse Championship through a three-year partnership with Katara.

The partnership reaffirms Ooredoo’s role as a key player in supporting sports tournaments and events.

Furthermore, Ooredoo’s participation in the prestigious competition reflects the company’s commitment to empowering Qatar’s rich and diverse cultural heritage, which is an integral part of the country’s history.

Katara Cultural Village General Manager, HE Dr Khaled bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, in his speech, said that hosting the 2023 World Arabian Horse Championship was the result of a creative vision and diligent work aimed at making Qatar an important centre of international championships.

HE Dr Al-Sulaiti explained that under their partnership, Katara and Ooredoo will collaborate on a three-year agreement covering several editions of the World Arabian Horse Championship. The partnership will commence with the Qatar 2023 competition, followed by the Paris event in 2024 and will culminate with the Qatari tournament in 2025.

The World Arabian Horse Championship 2023 is one of the most prominent global equestrian events. It combines grace and purebred lineage, bringing together over 150 Arabian horses from more than 20 countries for competitions that are characterised by excitement and suspense. Organising the championship in Doha Port, with its blend of authenticity and modernity, provides a wonderful opportunity to showcase the cultural and tourism diversity in Qatar.
