The Jazz at Lincoln Center Doha at The St. Regis Doha opens this evening for week-long performances featuring the swinging sounds of critically-acclaimed Latin jazz artists The Rodriguez Brothers.
Based in New York, The Rodriguez Brothers will play the club’s first performances from 24 September through 3 October. Their first set from 24-29 September will be under the theme of ‘What is Jazz?’ followed by ‘What is Afro-Cuban Jazz?’. The Rodriguez Brothers’ performances will lead up to the venue’s grand opening on 4 October, featuring The Wynton Marsalis Quintet, led by nine-time Grammy Award Winner Wynton Marsalis.
Six nights a week, Jazz at Lincoln Center Doha will host guests in a theatrical ambiance of intimate plush crescent-shaped banquettes and sweeping views of the Arabian Gulf. The setting recalls the luxury of the Roaring 1920’s, when the top jazz performers played at the St. Regis New York’s elegant rooftop ballroom. Jazz aficionados will be able to enjoy a menu of New Orleans-inspired dishes, including fresh crawdaddies, mouth-watering gumbos and jambalayas, in addition to a Jazz Age selection of refined beverages.
Jazz at Lincoln Center is open from Monday to Saturday from 7:00 pm until 2:00 am and features two to three sets of live music per night. Prices start at QR400 for a table for two. The grand opening performances by The Wynton Marsalis Quintet cost QR500 per person or QR675 per person with a three course menu in Opal or Vine before or after the performance.
