All remaining Women’s Hospital Outpatient Department services will this week move across to Hamad Medical Corporation’s new Women’s Wellness and Research Center (WWRC).

Among the clinics set to relocate is the new Antenatal Day Assessment Unit, a service which is dedicated to closely monitoring high risk maternity patients in an outpatient setting prior to delivery.

This relocation follows the move of other outpatient clinics including Uro-Gynecology, Gynecology-Oncology, Hormone Replacement Therapy, Newborn Screening, Well Baby Clinics and support services including pharmacy and phlebotomy.

Starting from this week, any women previously referred to the Women’s Hospital for obstetrics or gynecology outpatient services or procedures will be instructed to visit the WWRC for their appointment.

Dr. Hilal Al-Rifai, Medical Director of WWRC said:

The new Outpatient Department in WWRC will offer more space and services for the growing number of women requiring specialist care in Qatar.’

Staffed with a number of highly trained clinicians, our facility will provide a comprehensive range of services from preconception to childbirth, post-natal care and beyond the reproductive phase of life.’

According to Dr. Al-Rifai, WWRC will also offer an expanded Diabetes Clinic to cater to an increasing number of women diagnosed or at risk of type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes to help manage their condition. Additionally, WWRC will house the Fetomaternal Medicine Unit, designed to monitor women with complex conditions during pregnancy.

In future, the WWRC also plans to have a designated area in the Outpatient Department that will feature a full breadth of prenatal care and educational classes to better prepare women for child birth. The classes will be run by midwives and nurses specialized in childbirth so that attendees can feel comfortable asking questions and seeking advice.

Women referred for IVF, Infertility or the Pediatric Audiology clinics should continue to visit the Women’s Hospital for their scheduled appointment until further notice.
