A huge number of Pakistani and Bengali families and workers are expected to flock to Al Wakrah to enjoy National Day programmes along with other nationalities. This year, the programmes of Qatar National Day are themed ‘One Love’ to denote the bond between Qataris and residents where all come together to express their celebration on this occasion.
Al Wakrah Stadium with a capacity of more than 12,000 seats will witness performance by Pakistani and Bangladesh communities including local talents as well as from those countries and it will perform cultural shows, thematic dances, songs, comedy show and more. Pakistan Education Centre, Bangladesh MHM School, Bhavans Indian School and DPS-MIS will compete with parade, songs, dances and thematic shows. Football and volleyball matches will be held between community teams as well as racing competition for school children and public.
The programmes will start with national anthem at 8 am by school students and will be followed by the parade of students from each four participating school. The schools will feature Qatari tradition in the 7-minute parade. A general song competition and a thematic song competition will be held between the schools before the communities start performing different cultural and entertainment shows on the stage.
In the morning session, Pakistani Community will have cultural performance lead by Samra, songs lead by Captain Nusrat, Solo Tabla lead by Ustad Nazakat Ali Khan, Pakistani Khattak Dance lead by Shiraz Khan, Pakistani folk dance lead by Furqan Paracha, performance by Urdu / Pashto Great Comodian Mirawaz and song by Punjab Musical Group.
Bangladesh community programmes in the morning includes group dance by Bangladesh school students lead by Bipasha Islam, Bangla folk song lead by Rupel Das, fashion show by Bangladesh school students lead by Mrs. Nusrath, folk song lead by Arif Chouwdhury, drama on dowry lead by Bipasha Islam, patriotic group song lead by Saiful, group dance by Bangladesh School students lead by Dr Shuparna Ghosh and classic song by Burhanuddin Mukul/Abdulla Al-Mamoon
The afternoon session will start with performance of Pashtu orchestra team followed by comedy performance of Meervaiz in Pashtu and Urdu, then general songs and dances. Songs and dances led by Bangladesh artists and comedy show by Sarwar Jahan will entertain the audience after noon.
The participating schools will compete in general dance followed by a thematic show on Qatar where each school will display a skit of 10 minutes featuring Qatar. The evening session will witness spectacular performance by noted Pakistani Pashto singers and artists like Hanifa Raja, Haroon Bacha, Masroor Fateh Ali Khan, Mirawas and Nafis Khan where the Bangladesh community will host Bapa Majumdar and Fahmida Nabi.
At the venue, there will be folkloric performances, traditional shows, acrobatics shows and musical performances as well. Harley-Davidson motor bike show, traffic competition for the general public with gift for winners will also be part of the programmes conducted.
Al Wakrah Indoor Stadium will witness volleyball match between ten teams starting from 8 in the morning. The final match will be played at 5 pm. A friendly football match between Pakistan and Bangladesh communities will be held at football training ground. Apart from this, there will be 100m race for kids below 10 years and 200 m race for students above 10 up to 20 and 800 m race for general public. The Volleyball matches and athletics will be managed by Voliq led by Ashique Ahmed.
Apart from these entertainment activities, the venue will provide different services to the public. Free blood and sugar checking will be held in corporation with Supreme Council of Health, Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar Red Crescent and KIMS medical centre. In addition to this, first aid training by Qatar Red Crescent will be provided in the venue.
The venue is arranged with praying areas for public, resting areas for families, restaurants, emergency medical services and other necessary services for the public. More than 110 volunteers from different communities will work for the smooth running of the event from 6 am to 10 pm. Arrangements have been made for family parking and company buses.
The arrangements for the programmes at Al Wakra Club were made at a meeting in the presence of the Director of Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior Colonel Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah; Member of the Qatar National Day 2013 Committee, Mana Ibrahim Al Mana; Brigadier Ali Salman Al Muhannadi, Head of Security Committee for Qatar National Day 2013; Venue Manager and member of Major Arif Abdul Rahman; Venue Commander Lieutenant Ali Majid Al Qahtani; representatives of Pakistani community Habib Sheikh and Janan Bangash; representatives of Bangladeshi community Anver Hussain Akon and Zulfiqar Azad; coordinators from Pakistan Education Centre, Bangladesh MHM school, Bright Future Pakistani School, Bhavans Public School and DPS-MIS Indian School; officers from internal security force, community policing section of South Security Department and Civil Defence; and representative of Qatar Red Crescent and heads of food, logistics, cultural activities, volunteers and sports committees.
