Last Thursday, Porsche Centre Doha, Al Boraq Automobiles Co WLL, launched the arrival of the new 911 Carrera and the Carrera S at a reveal show at the Qatar National Convention Centre.
The instantly recognisable porsche has had its iconic design revamped and its now being described as their best ever model; “The 911 Carrera is a re-definition of what a sports car should be,” said George Wills, Managing Director of Porsche Middle East and Africa FZE.
The 1500 guests who were present were treated to a 3D show demonstrating the 48 year history of 911 series, the new technology and their various involvements like the GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East and presentations of high tech performances.

So – what has changed? Why is this model better than it’s predecessor?
According to George Wills, Managing Director of Porsche Middle East and Africa FZE 90% of the car’s components are either new or revised.
The 911 Carrera boasts
- A wheelbase that is 100mm longer
- It sits lower on the ground
- A stretched silhouette
- A body made of a light weight aluminium steel construction
- 0-100 km/h in 4.8 s
- An athletic 350hp
- A 3.4 litre boxer engine
This means, among other, that the car has better handling and is faster; on a run around the Nurburgring’s Nordschleige circuit showed the Carrera to be 14 seconds faster than the previous model.
- An amazing 400hp
- A 3.8 litre boxer engine
- 0-100 km/h in 4.3 s
- A top speed of 304km/h
