The Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani inaugurated Police College on Thursday 19 March 2015.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by many prominent dignitaries from across country. Among the dignitaries were Qatar’s Minister of Youth and Sports, HE Salah bin Ghanim Nasser Al Ali; the Minister of Education and Higher Education, HE Dr Muhammad Abdul Wahid Ali Al Hamadi; Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General (Pilot), Ghanim bin Shaheen Al Ghanim; and Commander of Emiri Guards, HE Staff Major General Huzaa bin Khalil Al Shahwani, along with directors and officers from different departments of the Ministry of Interior, Armed Force and Lekhwiya. Delegations from GCC and Arab countries also attended the event.

PM Police CollegeDirector General of Public Security Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al KHulaifi felicitated some prominent personalities who contributed great efforts for the college, on behalf of the Minister of Interior. They were poet Falih Mubarak Al Ajlan Al Hajiri, who wrote the college anthem, Captain Abdullah Dhamn Al Mohannadi and Muhammad Al Marzouqi.

The opening ceremony started with the national anthem followed by military parade performed by the students. The Director General of the Police College Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Al Muhana Al Marri, who delivered introductory speech, said that the opening of the college is a great achievement to be added to other great accomplishments made by Qatar in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. The college had admitted 115 Qatari students and others 23 from other Arab countries in its first batch.

The Director General of the Police College pointed out that this academic entity is all prepared to graduate qualified military cadres to serve and secure the nation to contribute to its development. The college was founded following the Emiri Decree No. (161) for the year 2013.

Among them were Major General Dr Abdullah Yousuf Al Mal, Advisor to Minister of Interior, Major General Abdul Aziz Abdullah Abdullah Al Ansari, Director of International Cooperation Department, Brigadier Abdullah Salim Al Ali, Director General of General Directorate of Nationality, Borders and Expatriates Affairs, Brigadier Muhammad Saad Al Kharji, Director General of Public Directorate of Traffic, Brigadier Rashid Shaheen Al Ateeq, Director of Control and Inspection Department, Brigadier Muhammad Ahmad Al Ateeq, Assistant Director of General Directorate of Nationality, Borders and Expatriates Affairs and Brig. Hussain Hasan Al Jaber, Director of Human Resource Department.

The delegates from other foreign countries also lauded the great achievement of Qatar in security assurance and quality military education for the Arab region.

According to Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, the opening of the Police College in Qatar has marked a great accomplishment all over the Arab countries in policing and security service sectors. Assistant Director General of Public Security in Jordan Dr Mahmoud Hussain Abu Jumaa, Director General of King Fahd Security College in Saudi Arabia Major General Saad bin Abdullah Al Khulaiwi, Director General of Paliestine Police Major General Hazim Atta Allah, Director General of Academy of Saad Al Abdullah for Security Sciences in Kuwait, Assistant Director of Abu Dhabi Police Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Abdullah Al Khori, Head of London’s Metropolitan Police Hogan-Howe, British Ambassador to Qatar Nicholas Hopton were some of the dignitaries from other countries who attended the opening ceremony.
