Taking pride in being the first and only Filipino radio station in Qatar, Qabayan Radio 94.3 has finally marked its first year anniversary this month – on 1 April.
Since its inaugural broadcast in 2019, the station has grown and developed – thanks to its growing community of listeners. The station now has over 32,000 likes on Facebook and over 11 million online listeners worldwide.
The company has taken its commitment to bring Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in Qatar closer to the Philippines through its playlist of Original Pinoy Music (OPM) and through their radio jockeys who interact daily with ‘Qabayans’.
Qabayan Radio, from the very start, has taken to heart its duty to be a ‘home away from home’ for Filipinos, bringing them quality music and entertainment as well as news and events in the most ‘Filipino’ way. And their excellent broadcasting does not stop there; the station also attracts listeners from different parts of the world since they also play current and international tracks.
Not an Easy Journey
The journey to that one-year mark has not always been smooth. As cheesy as it sounds, it was one big rollercoaster ride. After all, running a company and making it successful is never an easy walk in the park.
Making your listeners and your clients happy require a great amount of effort, strength, determination, and a massive dedication. There are also different voices heard on air over time, and people come and go, but the will of the company as a whole, to strive and bring good vibes to listeners, and to drive our Qabayan’s homesickness away remains the same.
Everyone in the station is hopeful that as the company trudges through their second year and the many years after that, their community of supporters will just grow bigger and more solid. Qabayan Radio will always be grateful for the people who have been working every day for the business to run, and for the never-ending support it received on its first year.
Just like what their radio jocks always say, there will be no Qabayan Radio without their listeners. And while it has accomplished many things in one year, Qabayan is nowhere near the finish line. There are still more things to accomplish, more goals to achieve, and a lot more smiles and happiness to bring for Filipinos (and non-Filipinos).
