Students of Qatar Academy Doha (QAD) came home as big winners when they competed in the Academic Games in Beirut, Lebanon, showcasing their proficiency in all areas of the school’s curriculum.

After the team’s successful bout in Kuwait, expectations were high and the team did not disappoint. The Varsity Team won first place in the Current Affairs section, and second place in the ‘glamour’ event, the Quiz Bowl. The Junior Varsity Team, meanwhile took home the second best spot in the Current Affairs section and third place in Fine Arts.

Throughout the proceedings, QAD elicited acknowledgment from other schools for the respectful and congenial manner in which they conducted themselves for the entirety of the weekend’s activities. Whilst the schedule has been a busy and predominantly focused on the games, the team did get to experience and enjoy some of the Lebanese landscape and culture, as they visited the Souq and the famous Jeita Grotto.

Their success in the competition has been because of team effort, with all members collaborating and giving value to the contribution of each member. Special mention however, should be given to individual achievements:

  • Ahmed Nasereldein – Second Place, JV Maths Olympiad
  • Xianelle San Juan – Third Place, JV Spelling Olympiad
  • Ali Fakhroo – Fourth Place, JV Spelling Olympiad
