A batch of cadets from the Ahmed Bin Mohammed Military College visited Qatar Airways’ Doha headquarters recently as part of the airline’s Al Darb Qatarisation engagement activities. A presentation by the airline’s on-boarding team was given to the  students, ranging from 18 to 20 years old, providing them the chance to learn about the aviation industry and Qatar Airways’ business and organisation model.

The airline’s Al Darb Qatarisation Programme was created in line with Qatar’s National Vision 2030 to help build a strong local workforce and create future leaders across a variety of industries in the country. Al Darb provides tailored programmes that give young Qatari nationals the chance to choose the career path that they wish to follow, allowing them to gain experience in diverse work environments and experience a culture of innovation across many different disciplines.

Qatar Airways Senior Vice President HR, Nabeela Fakhri said that through the company’s Al Darb Qatarisation Programme, the young Qatar Armed Forces cadets get the chance to be part of something special.

Not only will they contribute to the growth and success of the country’s national carrier, but they will play a part in strengthening the economy, development and  international standing of the State of Qatar.’

A statement issued by the Commander of the college expressed much appreciation for the warm welcome.

We would like to thank you for the valuable lecture that was presented to the students. The lecture was very useful for them and it achieved the main objective of introducing the students to the real-world application of accounting system in services institutions.’

Al Darb offers students employment and training opportunities and helps them hone their skills in professional working environment for a variety of career options, both at Qatar Airways and with strategic partners including Rolls Royce, Boeing, and Airbus. The initiative is a hands-on project that seeks to train participants to apply what they learn in real-life situations, not just in Qatar, but in numerous locations across the globe.

The airline seeks ambitious, high-performing students to groom as future leaders of Qatar Airways.

Started in 2014, Al Darb supports eight programmes and 35 different majors to offer increased opportunities, encourage nationals with different professions to join the airline and add value to the business. It offers scholarships to university students and full-time positions to new graduates. These career opportunities are offered around the world, allowing Qataris to gain experience in any of the airline’s more than 150 global offices.
