Qatar Airways celebrated the launch of its new offices in Amman, Jordan recently. The successful office opening celebration was attended by the Transport Minister of Jordan, HE Engineer Anmar Khasawneh and Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, HE Akbar Al Baker, and by several senior officials and VIP from Jordan and Qatar.
Notable figures who attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony included Jordan’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities HE Majd Shweikeh, and the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship HE Mothanna Ghairaibeh. Also present during the ceremony were the Ambassador of Jordan to Qatar HE Zaid Al Lozi; Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority of Jordan, Captain Haitham Misto; and interim Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of the State of Qatar to Jordan, HE Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Khalifa Al Sada.
Engineer Khasawneh welcomed the opening of Qatar Airways’ new offices in Amman, expressing hope that this crucial step will spur a series of Qatari investments in the Kingdom. He praised the distinguished relations between Jordan and Qatar, underscoring the importance of overcoming all obstacles and challenges impeding meaningful partnerships between the two countries with regards to the transport sector.
According to HE Akbar Al Baker, Jordan is an integral market for Qatar Airways.
The opening of our new offices in the Kingdom comes as a response to the growing demand for quality flights, in addition to serving as further confirmation that Qatar Airways has become the airline of choice for discerning travellers from Jordan. Gala Dinner Under the Patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein
Qatar Airways also hosted a glittering gala dinner in Amman under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein. The event was held at the Four Seasons Hotel before the official opening of the offices in Amman.
During the gala dinner, HRH Prince Ali and HE Al Baker had a photo together holding the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar themed jerseys alongside the guest of honour, Bayern Munich football legend, Lothar Matthäus, the only outfield player in the world to compete in five World Cup tournaments.
Guests at the gala dinner were treated to an incredible performance by talented Qatari singer and record producer Fahad Al Kubaisi, who dedicated a special song to the VIP, guests and the people of Jordan. Renowned Jordanian singer, Omar Al Abdallat also performed a remarkable line-up of his most popular songs.
Qatar Airways launched its first flight to Amman in 1994. Since then, Amman has consistently been one of the airline’s primary destinations, with 21 weekly flights (three flights per day) from Doha to the Jordan capital. Over 400 Jordanians work as part of Qatar Airways Group, supporting its development and contributing to enhancing its services.
The airline also have an existing codeshare agreement with Royal Jordanian Airlines which started in 2015, allowing both airlines to reach various additional destinations around the world. The agreement recently expanded to allow passengers to fly to East Asia through Hamad International Airport.
Qatar Airways’ CSR Initiatives in Jordan
Qatar Airways participates in several CSR initiatives in Jordan, including its consistent support to the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) and Foundation. Representatives from the airline have visited KHCC on several occasions over the past years, dressed as various characters from the Oryx Kids Club to distribute gifts to children currently undergoing treatment at the centre. The airline also participated in distributing humanitarian aid packages to underprivileged families in Jordan in cooperation with the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization, Qatar Charitable Society and Qatar Red Crescent.
