Qatar Airways Participates in 8th Annual Qatar UK Career Fair
Qatar Airways, through its Al Darb Qatarisation Programme, participated for the fourth year running in the eighth Annual Qatar UK Career Fair, on Saturday 21 February 2015, in London, UK.
Held under the patronage of His Excellency Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali, Minister of Youth and Sports, and His Excellency Yousef bin Ali Al Khater, Qatar’s Ambassador to the UK, and organised by the Qatar Embassy in London, the career fair gives Qatari students in the UK the opportunity to meet with a number of Qatari companies in the hope of securing a scholarship or full-time position upon graduation.
The Al Darb Qatarisation Programme supports 23 fields of study and targets ambitious and high-performing students, who have the potential to become experienced professionals in the aviation sector. The programme also offers employment and training opportunities for new graduates as well as scholarships for university students.
His Excellency Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, said:

Our participation in this annual event is part of our continued effort to attract new Qatari talent and introduce them to the world of aviation, and the various programmes and development and employment opportunities that Qatar Airways offers.”
Nabeela Fakhri, Senior Vice President of HR Employee Services at Qatar Airways, chaired the airline’s delegation to the eighth Qatar UK Career Fair, where she thanked the Qatari Ambassador to the United Kingdom His Excellency Yousef bin Ali Al Khater for his invitation to participate in the fair.
Commenting on Qatar Airways’ participation, Dr Kholode Al Obaidli, Vice President of National Talent Management at Qatar Airways, said:
The Qatar UK Career Fair is a wonderful opportunity for us to introduce the Qatar Airways Al Darb Qatarisation Programme to students and graduates in the United Kingdom. The students have the chance to meet our team and discuss the various career opportunities and training that the programme offers to help build their professional capacities, and eventually secure a position with us at Qatar Airways. It is also a fantastic opportunity for us to highlight our National Scholarship Programme, Aviation Management Programme and our Internship Programme.’
During the fair, Qatar Airways’ talent management team were on hand to provide guidance to students on the benefits of Qatar Airways’ employment and training programmes, answer students’ questions and share their expertise with them. Qatari students and graduates in the United Kingdom who attended the career fair showed great interest in the Al Darb Qatarisation Programme, with more than 80 applicants applying to the programmes. After interviews were conducted, contracts were signed with 30 nationals, including 19 for the Scholarship Programme, nine for the Graduate Developee Programme and two for the Aviation Manager Programme.
