Thousands of residents and visitors enjoyed various activities hosted at different locations around the country for the 9th edition of Qatar National Sport Day (QNSD). 

Commemorated every second Tuesday of February, QNSD allows people from all walks of life to take part in sporting activities, promoting the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle.

Here are some of the activities that happened around Qatar in celebration of National Sport Day:

Aspire Zone Foundation hosted a sporty day full of innovative activities. All events were open to the public, including a fun run and cycling. There were also activities exclusively for ladies. (Click on the photos below)


Commercial Bank organised a ‘CB Olympics Challenge’ for its employees at their on-site fully-equipped mixed gym called CB House of Fitness.

Cultural Village Foundation – Katara hosted a variety of activities along the waterfront and Katara Beach, with wide participation from ministries, governmental entities and private establishments. Katara activities combine sports, health awareness and entertainment for people of all ages.

Doha Festival City celebrated National Sport Day in flare and style. Participants enjoyed a fun-packed day of sports and fitness activities alongside family and friends, with something for all ages and skills, both indoors and outdoors. Museum of Islamic Art Park also became a huge playground for different QNSD activities.

Qatar Airways hosted an enjoyable and exciting celebration of National Sport Day this week, featuring a variety of sports-based family activities for staff members.

The event, which took place at the new, state-of-art Oryx International School campus, featured a variety of fun-filled activities for Qatar Airways Group staff and families, including football, volleyball, basketball, cricket, cycling, aerobics and yoga, as well as a kids’ activity station featuring mini-football games and an obstacle course, where friendly competitions took place between employees.

Qatar Post organised a full day of festivities featuring sports-related activities for staff and their families. Activities featured a walkathon, jogging, table tennis, football, and volleyball, to name a few. The day also brought to a close an inter-departmental football tournament that has been underway since October 2019. It was an occasion for the final four teams – Connected, Global Mail, EMS, and Direct Mail – to battle it out for the glory. In the end, Global Mail took home the trophy.

Qatar Shell and Qatar Football Association organised Koora Time Programme which featured a myriad of activities. The event opened with the Amir Cup trophy on display, and the opportunity to meet with Qatar National Team player Bassam Al Rawi. Members of the public also had the opportunity to enjoy training sessions, football matches, and fitness classes that promote the many benefits of adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana Co, the exclusive agent of Nissan in Qatar, invited employees and their families from across the group to a fun-filled day of sports and teambuilding at Al Saad Sports Club. Employees, together with everyone working under the company’s diverse portfolio of global brands – Nissan, Infiniti and Renault – participated in a variety of activities and friendly tournaments. Team sports such as football, badminton, cricket, and volleyball were played to encourage employees be active and get to know each other in a friendly, light-hearted environment.

The Group’s Sports Day was also filled with exciting incentives. Winning teams and participants were given an array of sports-related prizes to help them continue be more active.

Sidra Medicine celebrated Qatar National Sport Day with young inpatients of the paediatric ward. The Child Life team organised a variety of indoor games and activities to keep the children entertained, making them an important part of the QND celebrations.
