Qatar Chamber (QC) and the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) recently signed an agreement to foster their cooperation in labour re-employment.

The agreement constitutes support for Qatar Chamber’s electronic platform for labour re-employment which was also launched in coordination with the Ministry in July, to facilitate the re-employment of skilled workers in the local market.

QC General Manager Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi and Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs at MADLSA Mohamed Hassan Al Obaidli signed the agreement.

Fostering Cooperation

The agreement was aimed at fostering cooperation between both parties in labour re-employment and facilitating access to skilled labour, as well as providing alternatives to recruitment from abroad by establishing an electronic link for both sides, to save time and fulfil the interests of all parties concerned.

It was agreed that a joint committee of QC and the Ministry will be formed to implement responsibilities and roles under the signed deal, including boosting coordination between both sides, proposing additional areas of cooperation and following up on the implementation of joint projects.

Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs at MADLSA, Mohamed Hassan Al Obaidli said that the Labour Re-employment Platform reflects the Ministry’s commitment to enhance public-private partnership. Al Obaidli also expressed his thanks to the chamber and QC chairman, HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, for his efforts in support of the private sector. The platform, he said, is of special importance for local companies as it represents an alternative to recruiting from overseas.

He also thanked QC general manager Saleh Al Sharqi for his efforts in fostering cooperation between the chamber and the Ministry in labour issues.

Al Sharqi meanwhile, pointed out that before providing the platform’s link to companies looking for labour, they will make sure through the Ministry, that the company has no violations related to labour. The platform is developed to enable labourers to enter the platform and submit their resumes.

The Joint Committee supervising the platform will cooperate to develop the platform, monitor observations of companies and businessmen, solve any obstacles and make suggestions to continuously develop the platform.
