Qatar Chamber Board Member HE Sheikh Hamad bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al-Thani presided over the first meeting of the Tourism and Exhibition Committee this year at the Chamber’s headquarters to discuss obstacles facing the sector and the different ways to tackle them.

During the meeting, members of the committee confirmed the importance of coordination between ministries and concerned bodies including tourism companies and travel agencies in the local market, stressing that this will have a great impact on developing and supporting the sector.

The meeting also touched on the results of previous meetings and endorsed minutes of the previous meeting.

Tourism and Exhibition Committee

The Tourism and Exhibition Committee plays a key role in developing the sector. It follows up on the implementation of strategic plans adopted by the country to develop the sector and reviews, follows up and activates laws and legislation that contribute to developing the sector and makes recommendations that are relevant to them.

The committee also coordinates with departments at Qatar Chamber and provides the private sector with information and data about this sector and addresses obstacles and constraints facing the sector for appropriate solutions.

The committee organises seminars, conferences and workshops that help in promoting the sector and participates in local and international meetings, seminars and conferences, as well as contributes to conducting studies on the labour market in the sector and presents recommendations and proposals to the Qatar Chamber Board of Directors.
