The agreement was signed by Ibrahim bin Abdulla Al Muhannadi, local development executive manager, Qatar Charity, and Hamad Buhindi on behalf of Abdulaziz Al Mahmoud, Director-General of Aspire Logistics, a member-organisation of AZF.
Ibrahim bin Abdulla Al Muhannadi said:
We are delighted about the partnership with Aspire Zone Foundation during Ramadan 1434 AH, and it includes two great events designed for all residents in Qatar. Al Baraha will be launched at the Ladies Club and will feature a number of fun-filled activities for the whole family, including buffets and invitations to enjoy Islamic Tawasheeh (religious songs). The second event, Islamic Lectures, will be held at a tent located near Aspire Mosque. The lectures will be given by a number of renowned Islamic scientists and preachers in Qatar and the GCC region.’
Throughout Ramadan, AZF will be hosting numerous sports, social and Islamic activities and they are as follows:
Al Baraha Programme and Aspire Mosque Activities in Collaboration with Qatar Charity
In collaboration with Qatar Charity, Taraweeh prayers will be held at Aspire Mosque during Ramadan. With an impressive 1,460 square meters of space, the mosque can accommodate 700 men on the ground floor and 150 women on the first floor in a calm and comfortable environment for prayer and contemplation. The building is located next to The Torch-Doha Hotel. In addition, Islamic lectures will be given on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays during the first three weeks of Ramadan by a number of renowned Islamic preachers including Dr Zaghlul Al Najjar, Sheikh Nasser Al Durzi and Sheikh Saad Ateeq Al Ateeq at a tent located near Aspire Mosque.
The Ladies Club will host the Al Baraha programme, where families will be offered buffets and be invited to enjoy Islamic Tawasheeh (religious songs). Also, fun-filled children’s workshops will be held. Proceeds from the events will be given to charity.
Aspire Ramadan Tent
The activities held at the Ramadan tent will cater to the whole family, and will feature live entertainment. Some of the events will include a clown and juggler, a music performance by Hala Turk, Beatbox, the pantomime show by Alex de Paris, a stand-up comedy, a special performance by Nader Abdulsalam, Al Ardha show and Fereej Mascot.
AZF will also invite children and their families on the 14th night of Ramadan to celebrate the joyful tradition of Garangao, in which Qatari children will dress in brightly coloured traditional costumes.
This year, Aspire has doubled the number of sporting events on offer to give the community a wide range of activities to choose from.
A two-week festival, running from 14 July to 28 July 2013 (9 pm to 12 am), will feature different sports for men and women. The activities include beach soccer, basketball, football, flag football, table tennis for the disabled (in collaboration with Qatar Paralympics Committee), handball, volleyball and remote control car races.
Most competitions will be held indoors at Aspire Dome. A range of fantastic prizes will be on offer in addition to giveaways that will be presented to all participants.
Registration was announced mid-June and was met with overwhelming response. Although the registration phase is now closed, AZF urges all friends and family members to attend the matches to cheer on their favorite teams.
In addition to the sports activities, Aspire Active will run a special fitness programme for both men and women.
‘step into health’
Another innovative activity designed especially for Ramadan is ‘Walk in the Dome’, which has been developed as part of AZF’s lifelong fitness program, step into health. The programme encourages people to accompany family members and friends to Aspire Dome’s indoor space and aims to help members of the community to stay fit. The ‘step into health’ programme is designed to inspire individuals to engage in a moderate amount of daily exercise, with participants encouraged to walk at least 10,000 steps a day.
Aspire Dome can be used as a walking venue every day in Ramadan from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm and 8 pm to 11 pm.
In addition, two competitions will be held during Ramadan, the first of which will be open to all participants. Individuals will be provided with pedometers, which will need to be returned after walking, to check the number of steps taken inside the Dome. Valuable prizes will be presented to winners at the end of July.
The second competition will be available to registered members of step into health. Four Umrah trips and five prizes from Ooredoo will be on offer.
