The board of trustees for the Qatar Football Association (QFA) headed by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani confirmed the nominees for a number of awards up for grabs before the end of this month. He also explained the voting process for the awards.

He said that a host of voting forms have been passed around to key football stakeholders across the following categories: Best U23 Player, Coach of the Year and Player of the Year.

The following individuals have been asked to vote for their choice:

A Representative of the Qatar Football Association
A Representative of the Qatar Stars League
Chairman and Members of the Board of Trustees for the Qatar Football Association Awards

Best U23 Player– Almoez Ali (Lekhwiya), Yousef Hassan (Al Gharafa), and Salem Al-Hajri (Al Sadd)
Coach of the Year– Djamel Belmadi (Lekhwiya), Jesualdo Ferriera (Al Sadd), and Sabri Lamouchi (El Jaish)
Player of the Year– Xavi (Al Sadd), Hassan Haydos (Al Sadd), and Nam Tae Hee (Lekhwiya)

Individuals also have an opportunity to vote on a fourth candidate who is not on the nominees list, and this will be considered when the votes are counted.

The Trustee’s also confirmed that the Mansor Muftah award, given to the top scorer in the QSL season, will be awarded to Lekhwiya striker Yusef El Arabi who scored 24 goals this season.

The remaining awards will be distributed on the evening of 20 May at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).
