Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) hosted former US President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter today, as part of an official visit to the region.

The former President and his delegation were welcomed by Engineer Saad Al Muhannadi, President of QF.

Born in 1924, Jimmy Carter, originally known as James Earl Carter, Jr., is an American politician, author, and member of the Democratic Party who served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981. He was awarded the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize for work to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development.

During the visit, the dignitaries listened to a comprehensive presentation outlining the vision and mission of QF, detailing the different academic initiatives, community development plans and scientific research programmes currently available. Following the presentation, the visitors were then shown an impressive 3D scale model of the current site. The master plan also included future construction developments at QF.

QF is hoping that the visit will lead to closer collaboration with The Carter Center, which focusses on global peace and health programmes.
