After announcing India as its 2019 Year of Culture partner country, Qatar Museums (QM) has officially launched the first initiative of what is set to be a year filled with cultural and artistic exchange. The competition, titled “Cricket Contemporary Photography” invites Qatar-based photographers to submit photos and videos about Cricket for a chance to a prize from Qatar Museums.

Photographs and videos submitted for review may depict any location in Qatar where the community plays cricket, including professional or friendly matches that portray themes such as: competition, sportsmanship, passion, loss, and triumph.

Photographs should be submitted as JPEG or PNG files in the native resolution of the camera with which they were taken (do not up-scale). If the work requires special display or framing, this should be specified in the caption. Photographs must not contain the name of the photographer or any other visible labelling in the image. For photobooks, please upload a PDF. The video must be in HD with MP4 format.

  •  Participants should provide the full name (To credit them), which will be used as a label to identify the photo’s copyright.
  •  Participants should provide the date the photo was taken (Year).
  • Participants should provide the location where the photo was taken.

Under the leadership of Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, QM spearheads the Years of Culture initiative — an annual series of bilateral, cultural exchange programmes with a partner country. It is designed to deepen understanding between nations and their people through mutual exchanges of arts, culture and heritage.
