As part of the Qatar National Day 2017 celebrations, the Organizing Committee of the Associated Activities of Qatar National Day 2017 Celebrations, in association with Ministry of Interior will hold mega cultural and sports events in collaboration with Asian expatriate communities, schools and companies on 18 December 2017 from 2:40 pm–10 pm.

Muhammed Al Jundi, spokesperson of “Batabet” center under the Ministry of Culture and Sports would participate in the event with 55 motorbikes starting from Labour City and ending at Barwa al Baraha.

A range of cultural events and art competitions will be organized in six venues including Asian Town, Labour City and Barwa Al Baraha in Doha industrial area, Wakra Sports Club, Rayyan Sports Club  and Barwa Workers’ Recreation Complex in Al Khor as well as an inter-national cricket tournament in Asian town cricket stadium.

Event Highlights include:

  • Cultural and musical performances by eight Asian community (Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nepalese, Sri Lankan, Filipino, Indonesian and Malaysian) teams
  • Performances by more than 6000 Students from 18 Asian Schools
  • 7 Venues (Asian Town, Cricket Stadium, Labour City, Barwa Baraha, Rayyan Sports Club, Wakra Sports Club and Barwa Workers Recreation Complex, Al-Khor)
  • More than 200,000 audiences expected from various communities
  • Qatari thematic shows by 18 school teams, community and company teams
  • International Cricket Tournament with international players from Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh
  • Musical concert by 14 renowned artists from Pakistan at Wakra Sports Club
  • 4 Asian Orchestra teams
  • Harley Davidson motor bikes and Mawater classic cars shows
  • 2 km long fun run by Filipino Community with 2000+ contestants
  • Programs start at 2:40 pm on Monday 18 December 2017 in all venues except Rayyan Stadium where the Fun run of Filipino community will start at 1 pm
  • Free blood sugar screening for 16,000 workers within 8 hours at Asian Town

Wakra Sports Club

al-wakrah-stadiumThe Wakra sports club will host the shows, march-pasts and cultural performances by students of MES Indian School, Pakistan International School, Bhavans Public School, DPS Modern Indian School, Pak Shama School, and Shanti Niketan School.

A musical concert by famous Pakistani artists will be staged here from 6 pm till 9 pm. Musicians and performers include Rauf Lala, Karan Khan, Nilo, Deeba Kiran, Laila Nihal, Shama Adil, Soukat Mehmood, Kashmal, Shahid Ali Khan, Bul Bul, Attaullah, Gullai and Khan Zeb. The Harley Davidson Riders will also display their shows in the venue.

Barwa Al Baraha  &  Labour City  

The venues each in Barwa Al Baraha and Labour City in Doha Industrial Area will host cultural shows and performances by Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Indian and Nepalese community teams and artists from different companies in addition to musical performance by orchestra team.

The classic car show of Mawater team and bike show of Harley Davidson Riders in this venue will attract many more public to the event. In addition to this, the Kerala Muslim cultural Center (ICC) will display several traditional and cultural programs from 2:40 Pm to 3:40 pm and from 3:45 pm, the jockeys of Malayalam radio 98.6FM will host a cultural fiesta from 3:45 pm. The cultural shows of the communities’ teams and orchestra will be starting from 4 pm.

Asian Town (Doha Industrial Area)

The Asian Town in Industrial Area will host march-pasts, shows and cultural events of students from Ideal Indian School, Birla Public School, Noble International School, Sri Lankan Stafford School, Bangladesh MHM School and Rajagiri School. Besides, Indian, Sri Lankan, Nepalese and Bangladeshi community teams will participate in march-pasts and cultural shows and traditional performances in addition to musical performances of orchestra team. There will be classic car show of Mawater team and bike show of Harley Davidson Riders in the venue.

Cricket Match

The cricket stadium in Asian town will host a mega cricket tournament with participation of International players from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India on Monday 18 December. The players include Misbah-ul-Haq, Umer Gul, Wahab Riaz, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Butt, Abdul Razzaq and Fawad Alam from Pakistan, Dilhara Fernando and Jeevan Mendis from Sri Lanka, Elias Sunny, Inam-ul-Haq and Ashraful from Bangladesh and Lakshmipathy Balaji and Badrinath from India.

 Rayyan Sports Club

Rayyan Sports Club will host the cultural shows of Filipino, Indonesian and Malaysian community teams along with march-pasts and performances of students from Philippines International School Qatar, Philippines School Doha, Doha Modern Indian School, Olive School, Philippines School Doha and Qatar Institute for Speech and Hearing. There will be classic car show of Mawater team and bike show of Harley Davidson Riders in the venue.

Barwa Workers Recreation Complex – Al Khor

The Barwa Workers Recreation Complex in Al Khor Industrial Area will host cultural shows and performances by Bangladeshi, Nepalese and Al Khor community teams and artists from different companies in addition to musical performance by Asian orchestra team. The Harley Davidson Riders will display their bikes in this venue as well.

This was announced by Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah, Director of Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior during a press conference held at Civil Defense Officers’ Club on 12 December 2017. Brigadier Ali Khujaim Al Azbi, Director of Establishments and Authorities Security Department at the Ministry of Interior also attended the conference along with Asian community leaders, school representatives and media persons.
