Qatar Postal Services Company – Qatar Post – successfully delivered textbooks to over 4,300 students of Qatar University during the Fall 2021 semester.

The delivery service was launched on 15 August in time for the opening of Qatar University’s Fall semester and following the shift towards blended learning as part of precautionary measures to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Students can use their Self-Service account and select the required books under the Textbooks Delivery Service link, fill in the address and contact details and submit a request.

Thanks to an API integration between Qatar University and Qatar Post order management systems, orders are received and managed by the university’s textbooks section. The textbooks staff are responsible for handling all requests, from receiving the orders, carefully picking and packing the books and reviewing all orders. Qatar Post then collects all consignments and schedules delivery within three to five working days. Unsuccessful deliveries are kept at Qatar Post branches for a week where students can pick them up personally. Any unclaimed orders are returned to Qatar University as a failed delivery.

According to Qatar Post Mails and Express Operations Department Director Abdullah Khamees  Almuraikhi, they are proud to be the delivery arm for Qatar University in the interest of public health and well-being.

Our purpose is to support Qatar University’s new blended learning system by providing students with the convenience of a fast, hassle-free and safe textbook delivery service every semester.  These efforts join with many others as part of our overarching commitment to overcome the challenges presented by COVID-19 by developing appropriate mechanisms.

Qatar University Textbooks Section Head Noora Alyafei said the delivery service is part of the section’s continuous development plan to facilitate matters for students, especially in light of the circumstances imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. She said that any delay in receiving books can affect the academic success and educational achievement of the student.

Since 2020, Qatar Post has taken a prominent role as the delivery wing for many public and private organisations working alongside ministries, government entities and hypermarkets to deliver items like medicines, groceries and even government documents and driving licenses, amongst others. The national postal service is also expanding its portfolio of B2B services to work as the delivery partner for more companies.
