Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation will host the biggest event of the season in 2014 which is the FIA Annual General Assembly, which will be held in Doha from 1 to 5 December 2014.

Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah, President of Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation said:

There is no doubt that the great support of our wise leadership, particularly the Emir HH Sheikh Tamin bin Hamad Al Thani, HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani and the athletes had a greater role to be an advantage for our case, and I think that all the unions are well aware of the capabilities of Qatar in the field of sports for the successes and achievements in successive tournaments and attract major international sporting event. It is also a great opportunity for tourism promotion as it is expected to attract a thousand of attendees from around the world, with members of local and international federations, world champions and public. The event will be broadcasted in different countries, which will contribute to the promotion of our country.

The St. Regis, Doha is where all the meetings and the Annual General Assembly will be hosted. It will be the first time that the Annual General Assembly takes place in the Middle East and North Africa and  the presence of more than six thousand guests are expected  between heads of clubs and local federations from across the world, both sports and tourism, in addition to world champions in the various categories of motor sport, from Karting, Formula 1, rallying, and others.

There will be several meetings from 1 to 3 December 2014 while the Annual General Assembly will be held on 4 December 2014 and the prize distribution on 5 December 2014.

It will be the first time that the prize distribution will be divided into two parts, the first will be dedicated to honour the organisers and various committees, while the second will be for the World Champions followed by a gala dinner.

He added:

We all hope that this celebration will be a big success, and we want to thank the support of HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Interior Minister, HE Sheikh Joan bin Hamad Al Thani and HE Salah bin Ghanim Al Ali, Minister of Youth, Sports and Nasser Al Khulaifi, Director General of Bein sports channel.

There will also be other venues around Doha where activities will take place, including the Museum of Islamic Art and Katara, where fans will have the opportunity to get autographs from the world champions at Katara beach.

The choice of Doha to host this global event for the first time was decided during the last meeting hosted in Marrakesh in April and after competing with bids of other countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Cyprus and Japan.
