Qatar’s children’s museum Dadu has recently signed on Qatar Shell as one of its ‘Founding Family’ members. The museum is one of Qatar’s first publicly funded national entity.
Under their long-term sponsorship agreement, Qatar Shell will be the exclusive sponsor of Dadu’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Gallery, introducing and inspiring children of all ages across various academic disciplines.
Qatar Museums Chairperson HE Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and Qatar Shell Companies Managing Director and Chairman Richard Tallant officiated the signing ceremony at Qatar Museums. Dadu and Qatar Shell also recently hosted a weaving workshop for children at the newly-opened Place Vendôme, as part of the Ramadan festivities to celebrate Garangao.
Cross-disciplinary approach
In her speech during the signing ceremony, HE Sheikha Al Mayassa said that as the exclusive sponsor of the STEM Gallery, Qatar Shell will nurture a cross-disciplinary approach where children can discover various fields and identify key areas of ability and interest.
In joining with our arts organisation, Shell has put an A in their expertise of STEM resulting in a STEAM programme that will be beneficial to all.
Dadu is dedicated to the continuous enrichment of the lives of children and their families. The museum is being designed to nurture, challenge and inspire Qatar’s future leaders and caretakers, fuelling their creativity and encouraging empathy and understanding.
Tallant, meanwhile, emphasised how making the future is at the heart of Shell, and how they are delighted to partner with Qatar Museums to support their mission to inspire Qatar’s children and to help equip them for the challenges of tomorrow. He said that innovation, technology and science are part of Shell’s DNA and they share the ambitions of Qatar Museums to look for creative, innovative and impactful ways to empower future generations to become agents of change and develop STEM habits.
This collaboration will support and celebrate the growth of young engineers and we look forward to partnering with Qatar Museums to support their creative vision and the human and social development pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Dadu and Qatar Shell’s investment in STEM education in Qatar aligns with the acceleration of the global digital revolution due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in which societies are embracing STEM to advance sustainable development. To learn more about Dadu, visit qm.org.qa.
