Football stars from Qatar Stars League (QSL), Pedro Miguel de Carvalho and John Benson from Al Ahli, and Anderson Martins and Adriano Ferreira from El Jaish sports club, joined forces on Monday 13th February 2012 to launch Qatar United.
There will be a game between Al Ahli and El Jaish sports club on Friday 9th March 2012, with kick off at 6:15pm at the Grand Hamad Stadium.
All football fans are invited to attend the match and to wear the colours of their country and proudly show off their nationality.
As well as the football match, the audience will get to see expat Scots and English play a match against each other in the QSL Challenge Trophy to commemorate the first ever football match between the two countries 140 years ago.
Qatar United will also have a Fun Zone with face painters, music, a food village with cuisine from across the continents. There will be a chance to win a VIP package from Barcelona Football Club; prizes for the best national costume and a QSL Golden Goal penalty shoot out competition with a prize of QR2,500.
QSL’s Chief Commercial Officer Abdul Rahman Al Dosari said, ‘Qatar United will be a fantastic event for everyone in Qatar. We want to celebrate cultural diversity at ‘Qatar United’ and encourage everyone to attend the event in the colours of their national team, paint their faces and share the passion and love of football.’
Tickets start from 10QR and children under 10 get in free. Tickets are available at the QSL ticket booth in City Centre and at Virgin megastores in Villaggio and Landmark.
