Qatar to Limit Visitor Entry During World Cup, Introduces 1+3 Policy for Hayya Card Holders
Following the announcement from the Ministry of Interior (MOI), visit visa to Qatar is temporarily suspended from 1 November and will resume on 23 December, to cover the whole duration of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. Only Hayya Card holders will be allowed entry.
Measures shall be put in place concerning the entry and exit procedures to and from Qatar via its air, land and marine borders during the championship period. Hayya Card holders, however, will be allowed to stay in Qatar until 23 January 2023. At least three visa categories are exempted from the suspension:
- Qatari citizens, residents and GCC citizens holding a Qatari ID card
- Holders of personal recruitment visas and work entry permits
- Humanitarian cases through the airport (following approval from the official application platform)
1 + 3 Policy
Hayya card holders can invite up to three non-ticketed fans to enter Qatar during the tournament. Non-ticket holders must pay a fee of QAR500 through the Hayya app before entry to Qatar and fans under 12 years old are exempted from paying the fees.
Please note that this feature will be available in conjunction with the launch of the last-minute sales phase for match tickets.
Qatar is regulating entry to the country in anticipation of the large volume of FIFA fans coming to Qatar for the tournaments. Hayya Card is mandatory for all FIFA World Cup ticket holders. The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ will kick off on 20 November.
