Building on the announcement of this year’s Eid Festivals 2014 last week, Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has entered the final stages of preparation and confirmation of the full programme of events being readied for the holiday period.

The festival, which features a full range of activities and events to suit all ages, will launch on the first day of Eid al-Fitr and run for a week in shopping centers (malls), the Pearl, Souq Waqif, Katara, in addition to many other locations outside Doha.

Director of Marketing and Promotions of QTA, Rashed Al Qurese, said:

We look forward to welcoming visitors to Qatar during Eid…Qatar is an ideal family destination not only due to its family-friendly atmosphere, there is something for all ages and interests in Qatar. From sun and sand, to arts and culture, Qatar offers families a range of options during the Eid holiday to enjoy. Qatar will be the destination of choice for families during the Eid festival. The programme of activities will last seven days in different locations in Qatar, including events, artistic performances, cultural and recreational activities.’

This year’s activities and events will include sports, culture and entertainment for all attendees. The increased participation of institutions and private companies this year adds to the activities available for families to experience during the holiday period. All of these developments are sure to provide an atmosphere of joy and delight in Qatar during the holiday period for residents and tourists.

QTA will host free of charge shows in the following shopping centers: Hyatt Plaza, City Center Doha, Landmark, Al Khor Mall, Lagoona Mall, and The Mall, for seven days at various times from 5 pm to 9 pm. Shows will feature international and traditional acts.

QTA also welcomes the following partners hosting various entertainment activities, exhibitions and concerts: the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage; Katara Cultural Village; Souq Waqif; The Pearl-Qatar; Qatar Shooting and Archery Association; Lusail Circuit; Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab Mosque; Al Dosari Zoo and the Game Reserve; Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum; Qatar Air Sports Committee; Sawt Al-Rayan; and Aqua Park Qatar.

Reflecting the Qatari customs and traditions, and Arabic hospitality, representatives of QTA will welcome guests arriving to Qatar for a holiday vacation during Eid at the new Hamad International Airport (HIA) and visitors from neighboring countries at the Abu Samra border crossing. Representatives will distribute maps and events programmes, as well as promotional material regarding various tourist attractions and entertainment programmes in the country.

Last year’s Eid Al Fitr festival was a big success, with more than 75,000 people visiting Qatar during the same period. And QTA’s local and regional campaign will start on 20 July 2014.
