Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) is one of the official sponsors for QSE taking place on the sideline of the COP18 Exhibition at the global UN Climate Change Conference in the Qatar National Conference Centre (QNCC) in Doha. This is part of QTA’s new strategy and commitment to ecotourism to reflect how important sustainability and protecting the environment is to Qatar, as evidenced by the Green Building Council’s charter for the nation, regulating the building of new developments accordingly.
HE Mr Issa Al Mohannadi, Chairman of QTA, commented:
At Qatar Tourism Authority we are immensely proud that Qatar is hosting this important global event, attended by key representatives and delegates from across the world to discuss environmental related policies and topics some of which are vital to preserve our planet, will have a lasting impact on our lives and generations to come. The QTA is fully committed to ecotourism and our strategy is to put responsible tourism at the top of the agenda for all hospitality outlets and tourism partners in Qatar, to ensure that our visitors appreciate how green Qatar has become.
The QTA is introducing delegates and visitors to COP18 to local Qatari culture and its rich heritage to with a traditional hospitality tent at the event. With performances of Qatari dances, displays of local handicrafts, falconry shows and of course, offerings of traditional Arabic coffee and dates, the tent invites the public to taste a slice of Qatari life and experience the warmth of Qatari hospitality.
COP18 has served to put Qatar firmly on the world map for ecotourism and show the world what the nation has to offer.
