Under the Patronage of HE Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy & Industry – Qatar, Qatar University and Interactive Business Network are organising the Entrepreneurship in Economic Development 2014 on 24 and 25 February 2014 at Qatar University.

In Qatar and the GCC countries, the expansion of the private sector remains a major priority in development programmes. The promotion of entrepreneurship, startups and small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) is a vital element and a prerequisite for achieving this objective.

The forum is the first of its kind in the region for defining the issues, assessing the prevailing entrepreneurial culture in Qatar and the wider Gulf, and discussing the role and importance of government policy and education in fostering and promoting entrepreneurship. The forum will also analyse the makings of entrepreneurs and their qualities, provide pointers to common mistakes made by entrepreneurs and practical advice on best management practices, and discuss financing possibilities and issues for new startups and SMEs. In the final analysis, the forum in its emphasis on the role of education will highlight the role to be played by Qatar University, and other Gulf universities and educational institutions as incubators of the young Gulf entrepreneurs of the future.

The event will bring in a wide panel of experts from entrepreneurs to angel investors who will not only share their own success stories, but also serve as a guide to budding entrepreneurs.
