To salute the frontliners and healthcare professionals for their role in combating the coronavirus pandemic in Qatar, aircrafts of the Qatari Airforce (Mohammad Bin Al Atyya Air College – Al Zaeem) recently performed an air show over two hospitals under Hamad Medical Corporation – Hamad General Hospital (HGH) and Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital (HMGH).
The air show was dedicated to the healthcare professionals for their efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country and for the care for patients infected with the virus.
Medical teams at HGH and HMGH stood in their white coats while the aircrafts were flying over the sky of Doha to express their gratitude and appreciation. The tribute is an initiative of Al Zaeem Air College, to express their solidarity with all the state institutions and departments for the efforts made to address the pandemic and to show support for all relevant measures taken by the state.
The medical teams expressed their gratitude towards the initiative which undoubtedly confirms the great appreciation of the state’s civil and military institutions to the health system which today stands as an impenetrable row to confront COVID-19.
The medical teams affirmed that they stand together to maintain the safety and health of the community, in the same way that the military and security sector in Qatar stand as impervious barriers to protect the nation’s borders.
Ali Abdullah Al Khater, Chair of the Healthcare Communications Committee at the Ministry of Public Health and Chief Communications Officer at HMC, said the healthcare workers deserve a hero’s salute, as they are risking their own safety and working everyday to treat and protect the rest of us.
I believe we are all in awe of the strength and resilience of those working on the frontline of the COVID-19 response. I know all residents who saw and heard the flyover took a moment to honour the brave men and women who are working so hard to contain the spread of COVID-19 in our country.
Al Khater thanked Al Zaeem Air College for the thoughtful gesture which he said reminded everyone of the important work being undertaken by the country’s healthcare professionals.
Officials of the two hospitals were also very grateful for the show of appreciation.
HGH Medical Director Dr Yousef Al Maslamani, said that the air show reflects the spirit of cooperation and solidarity between all institutions in the country and in providing reassurance to the nation during this unsettling period.
HMGH Medical Director Dr Ahmed Al Mohammed also expressed his appreciation of the initiative, which he said highlights the humanitarian role of Qatar Armed Forces to the community.
Healthcare workers continue to assume their responsibilities with high efficiency during these unprecedented conditions through their dedication to perform their professional and humanitarian role and apply the best healthcare practices.
Asma Mousa, Assistant Executive Director of Nursing, expressed her appreciation of the initiative, which she said is a unique way to thank and pay tribute to frontline healthcare workers. She said that it left a good impression for all the healthcare workers in the country, and made them feel appreciated.
