The Qatari Society of Al-Gannas announced will open the registration for the 14th Al-Gannas International Saluki Racing Championship (2024) on Sunday, 25 February between 4 pm and 8 pm, at Qatari Society of Al-Gannas at Katara Cultural Village (No. 33).

The organizing committee of the 14th Al Gannas International Saluki Racing Championship explained that the championship is open to everyone from within Qatar and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The organising committee indicated that when registering, the saluki must be present with you where the chip will be inspected. The committee noted that there has been no change in the tournament as the race distance is estimated at 2 km and is calculated by GPS.

After counting the number of the people who have registered in the tournament and distributing them into groups, the tournament will begin with the qualifiers on 2 March, while the final competition will take place on 9 March in Sabkha Marmi in the Sealine, Mesaieed.

The Saluki races are widely followed by fans of this type of heritage racing, throughout the year, especially at the Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi).

Al-Gannas also invites all those interested and enthusiasts of this type of sport, Saluki owners, to turn out and register, as well as fans of excitement and suspense from the public to come and enjoy the atmosphere of the competitive tournament.

Last year’s championship was won by contestant Hamad Khalfan Al Shamsi and he came in first place, and second place was won by contestant Salem Obaid Al Kaabi.
