Qatar Career Development Centre (QCDC) opened the registration for the Fifth Edition of its Summer Career Camp, designed for highschool students to involve them in activities that will assist them make informed academic and career decisions.

The camp takes place at the Education City Student Centre from 1-12 July, from 8 am to 2 pm, with separate classes for boys and girls.

Two Weeks of Activities and Educational Programmes

The two-week camp will feature a variety of activities and educational programmes, as well as stimulating workshops designed to provide students with practical skills and knowledge that can ‘inspire’ them when planning their career and academic paths. Students will have access to the QCDC Career Advising System (CAS).

A full day will be dedicated to training students on a range of life skills. These include ‘Getting Ready for University’, ‘How to Prepare your Resume’ and ‘How to Introduce Yourself to Society’. The camp also offers opportunities for site visits and job shadowing programmes at leading organisations in Qatar and a glimpse into possible career options.


Six days will be dedicated for site visits at institutions operating across the various sectors in Qatar. These include a ‘Medical Day’ sponsored by Hamad Medical Corporation, an ‘Agriculture Day’ sponsored by the Q’uranic Botanic Garden, an ‘Engineering Day’ sponsored by Qatar Petroleum, a ‘Banking Day’ sponsored by Qatar National Bank, a ‘Media Day’ sponsored by Northwestern University in Qatar, and a ‘Transport Day’ sponsored by Qatar Airways.

The camp will also feature a variety of recreational, sports and educational activities. Participants will attend a series of handicraft workshops for painting and photography. Results of the workshop will be showcased at a special exhibition before the end of the camp. They will also visit Al Shaqab, while a full-day field trip to the Visual Art Centre will allow students to develop their talents and explore their artistic skills.

The final day of the camp will include an introductory session about universities in Qatar. University representatives will provide students with an overview of their academic programmes and admission requirements. Students can register for the Summer Career Camp 2018 through the QCDC website starting this month, until 26 June. To guarantee a seat, interested students are encouraged to register early. Registration fees are reduced to QAR 1,500 if applicants register before 15 June or if more than one sibling student is registered. The camp’s activities and programmes will be delivered in Arabic only.
